Our current theme is 'The Viking Sea Lord'
Every historian asks questions about the past and investigates how evidence helps us understand what really happened.
In this unit, pupils explore who the Vikings were, why they travelled across Europe and why they invaded Britain. Through maps, timelines, artefacts, Viking sagas and archaeological evidence, children investigate how historians separate fact from fiction and discover how Viking raids developed into permanent settlements.
Children explore the struggle between the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, examine life in Viking Britain and evaluate the lasting influence Vikings have had on modern Britain.
Throughout the unit, children return to the enquiry question:
How did the Vikings change Britain?
Our current class novel is 'The Last Viking'.
