Welcome to Year 6!
Class Teacher: Miss Hiley
Teaching Assistants: Mrs Doran and Mrs Lees
Children have already made a fantastic start to this very important, yet highly exciting, year.
This Spring term our topic is ‘Endurance’ which promises to take the children on a courageous journey of determination, perseverance and strength; re-living the journey that Sir Ernest Shackleton made 100 years ago in his desire to become the first man to walk across the Antarctic continent.
At the moment, children all have their entrepreneurial hats on as they work in teams on our Enterprise topic to design, make, market and sell products which relate to Shackleton’s expedition.
Children have begun thinking about what it would have been like to travel across the Antarctic and, as a result of looking at Prince Harry’s recent journey to the South Pole, have decided to raise money for ‘Walking With The Wounded’.
Each group has been given the target of raising £20. Children are currently carrying out their market research to find the types of product which would be most likely to sell.
Alan Sugar…watch out!!
On Wednesday 12th February our first two teams, 'Endurance' and 'Treemendous', made Miss Hiley the proudest teacher in the world!
Both teams, who had spent the previous day baking, went to Co-operative to raise money for 'Walking With The Wounded'. The two teams were overwhelmed by people's generosity and managed to sell every single cake which had been baked.
Back at school, we counted profits and are absolutely delighted to announce that £117.25 was raised. Well done and thank you to all involved.
The competition is now on for the next two teams, 'Snow Strivers' and 'The Achievers', to make even more than this when they sell their delicious treats in the Co-op on Wednesday 26th February from 10am-12pm.
