ICT & Multimedia
At Kings Meadow, we endeavour to provide the best teaching and learning opportunities for our children. We have a secure wireless network that the childen access through netbooks and laptops. Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard and the children use digital cameras and other multimedia resources to showcase their creativity.
Community/Creative Cookery Room
This room is used by the whole school community and is shared with our Children's Centre. it contains purpose-built cooking facilities including high quality utensils and equipment.
School Hall
Our school hall is multifunctional, equipped with P.E. apparatus and equipment, stage, lighting and sound facilities for our many school performances, an ICT-ready projector as well as a live-feed camera so the children can watch themselves in action on the BIG screen!
School Kitchen & Dining Room
Our school kitchen prepares healthy, fresh lunches every day. The kitchen was recently refurbished and modernised with state of the art cooking facilities. Our dining room has a light, modern decor with wood-effect flooring and pastel wall colours. All in all this provides a superb environment in which our high quality lunches can be cooked, served and enjoyed by all.
Playground
Our playground has three distinct areas:
- Mississippi Trail - this activity trail provides a variety of physical challenge for children of all ages.
- Sports' Zone - this multi-purpose zone enables team games to be played.
- Creative Area - this area includes a Secret Garden, a stage, seating and a climbing wall.
Early Years Area
Our outside Early Years play area was designed by a member of staff and includes a large covered sand-pit, a stage, a climbing tower and a small Activity Trail. The Enchanted Garden is a favourite with the children where inside they can discover a circle of toadstool seats, carved creatures and a bridge over a dry riverbed. Inside the children can, play, explore and learn in a spacious and modern environment.
On the Allotment
As a flagship school for “Food for Life” our children are actively involved in growing, harvesting and cooking produce from our own allotment and greenhouse. The children are also involved in composting and recycling.
Our Chickens
Our chickens were hatched here in school in an incubator. They enjoy eating the leftovers from our kitchen and their diet enables them to lay a daily clutch of eggs for the children to collect. We use the eggs in our cookery sessions and when we have too many they are sold to our families: "GET YOUR FREE RANGE EGGS HERE!"
Kings Kids
Our well-established "KINGS KIDS" childcare facility enables our parents to go to work knowing that their children are in safe hands. The staff are dedicated and provide an excellent range of activities for the children to enjoy. They also offer special "CHEAPIE TUESDAYS" and regular "BREAKFAST SPECIALS".
Kings Kids is non-profit making and registered by Ofsted.
Children's Centre
Kings Meadow Children's Centre is situated at the back of the school with it's own entrance and delivery space. A wide variety of activities are provided for parents and young children - there is even a "Dad's Club" on a Saturday morning!
