Today, Year 5 children braved the elements and enjoyed a visit to the River Alt followed by the Eco Centre as part of their ongoing topic 'Ainsdale on Sea'.
The trip got off to an eventful start when the coach broke down on the Formby Bypass! Luckily, a replacement coach was not too far away!
At the River Alt estuary, it was extremely windy, but, fortunately, not raining. The children learnt many interesting facts about the river and its history as well as looking at some sea defense mechanisms. After a breezy walk along the estuary the children headed back to the Eco Centre where they took part in quizzes, created a story board and learnt more facts about the river and its history.
A great day enjoyed by all!
