The children have been back for a few weeks now and have all settled in really well, which is fantastic!!!
This half-term we are focusing on the routines of Nursery and getting to know each other. Our starting point has been holidays and the seaside- to give children the opportunity to recall their own experiences during the Summer. This planning is displayed in the entrance.
We have also introduced some of the children’s interests and needs as the focus for some of our learning, therefore are developing Police role-play, scissor skills, counting, shapes and colour names. We are developing our listening skills and learning lots of rhymes and listening to short stories.
We are working on supporting children in the grip they use for mark-making materials. This is being supported with regular finger rhymes, play dough and other fine motor activities.
We are also encouraging the children with their independence and self-help skills so if you could support this by teaching/ allowing your child to take off and put on their coat and hang it up.
We are spending time each day looking at our name cards, looking at the shapes of the letters and listening for what sound we can hear at the beginning of the word.
We will shortly be sending home our ‘Everywhere Bear’ with children for a couple of days at a time. Please take care of him and return him on the appropriate day.
