Solar Eclipse & Bike It Breakfast

It was an exciting morning at Kings Meadow as children witnessed their first ever Solar Eclipse as well as enjoying their annual Bike It Breakfast.

Children starting arriving on their bikes and scooters from 8:30am, whilst it was still light! They made their way to the school hall where they were treated to a wonderful Bike It Breakfast provided by Sustrans Officer 'Bike It' Mary Kelland. They had a wonderful choice of: croissants, muffins, pancakes, cereal bars and a drink. They then settled down on the mats and benches watching the live stream of the eclipse provided by the BBC. There was a few technical glitches (blamed on the eclipse!) but we got the stream working and children enjoyed listening to live commentary and finding out the science behind the eclipse.

It was a wonderful morning and children are already looking forward to the next eclipse, in 2026!

A big thank you to Mary as well for providing the wonderful breakfast and completing cycling activities with the children throughout the day.
